OPPORTUNITIES: Visiting Scholars Program at the Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy (UMass Boston) – February 15 Deadline
The Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy at UMass Boston's McCormack Graduate School invites researchers to apply for a "CWPPP Mini-Grant" to develop a grant proposal on a topic consistent with the Center's mission and research goals.
Visiting Scholars Program
The Visiting Scholars Program is open to any scholar at a Massachusetts institution of higher education. The Scholar will receive a stipend of $2,500 to write a grant proposal on a topic related to the Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy's mission and submit it to potential funding agencies or organizations.
Application Process
Interested applicants should submit a 3-page (single spaced) overview that includes a description of the research project, its relevance to women of diverse communities, project goals, general research design, potential funding sources, and a timeframe for developing a proposal to be submitted to a funding entity. Please send the overview as well as a curriculum vitae (email or hard copy) to Christa Kelleher, Ph.D., CWPPP Research Director at Christa.Kelleher@umb.edu by February 15, 2008. Research
The Center's research interests include a wide range of topics affecting women, with a special emphasis on the intersection of race, ethnicity, and class. The Center's projects employ a wide range of research designs and methods. Current topics of interest and/or work at the center include: women's political participation, representation, and activism; women and the criminal justice system; health care and women's health; economic security of older women; welfare and workforce development; and wage equity. Other topics consistent with the Center's mission will be considered as well.

The Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy is located within the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies at UMass Boston. Our mission is to promote women's leadership by providing an award-winning graduate certificate education program, conducting research that makes a difference in women's lives, and serving as a resource for women from diverse communities across the Commonwealth.
